Hello

"Leading though serving...

"True leadership in the church and community is marked not by authority, but by humility and service. Just as Jesus came not to be served but to serve, we are called to lead by example—caring for the needs of others, lifting up the brokenhearted, and working selflessly for the good of all. Leading through serving means putting others before ourselves, listening with compassion, and acting with integrity, so that Christ may be seen in all we do."

-Pastor Moe

Maurice D. Edwards was born on August 19, 1968, in Detroit, Michigan, to Royce and Beverly Edwards. A proud graduate of Detroit Redford High School (Class of 1988), he went on to serve his country in the United States Navy beginning in 1989. During his military service, Mr. Edwards participated in Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Southern Watch aboard the USS Midway and USS Independence. His dedication and performance earned him a Letter of Commendation from Rear Admiral Bennett of the U.S. 7th Fleet for excellence in sea service.

Following his honorable discharge in 1993, Mr. Edwards returned to Detroit, building a long-standing career in security and loss prevention. In 1994, he became a born-again believer, and in 1995 he accepted the call to ministry. He was ordained as an elder in 1999 and began preaching and teaching at Community Christian Fellowship Church in Detroit, with a special passion for evangelism and youth ministry.

His heart for young people led him to work in a youth facility for at-risk boys, later transitioning to Detroit Public Schools as both a security officer and student advocate. In 2022, after becoming a chaplain for the International Fellowship of Police Chaplains Association (IFPCA), the Lord called him to establish Liberating Truth Church. That same year, after relocating to Roseville, Michigan, he founded Roseville Cares in September 2023 to provide volunteer services for seniors.

In September 2024, Mr. Edwards launched the Mascot Mentorship Program to help elementary school boys grow into “perfect gentlemen,” which evolved into the Perfect Gentlemen’s Club. Alongside his ministry and mentorship efforts, he began pursuing a Biblical Studies degree at Liberty University in August 2024, achieving Dean’s List honors with a 3.7 GPA.

Mr. Edwards also serves as a chaplain for Roseville Veterans Returning Home, is a member of the Roseville Optimist Club, serves on the Roseville Parks and Recreation Board, and is a VFW member of LT Wood – CPL Reid Post 6691.

He has been joyfully married to Tracy Edwards since December 10, 2018, and together they are blessed with three children. He enjoys spending time with his wife and their two dogs, studying the Bible, and playing pool. His life and work are guided by his favorite quote: “If you’re not giving back, you’ve given up.”

My mother, Beverly Jean Edwards, was the first example of creativity, versatility, and purpose-driven leadership I ever knew. Her unwavering spirit and ability to turn the simplest moments into meaningful lessons inspired me to think outside the box, adapt in every season, and always seek opportunities to grow. Whether she was managing the household, serving in the church, or starting a new business, she did it all with excellence and heart. Watching her navigate life with grace and determination planted in me the seeds of entrepreneurship and servant leadership. Her influence shaped my character and fueled my desire to lead with compassion, serve with humility, and always strive to make a difference. Because of her, I stand today not only as a leader, but as a man deeply rooted in purpose. I miss her dearly.
